Story Marine works in partnership with landowners and operators to generate and share mutual benefits

The UK government has mandated a legally binding commitment to achieve full decarbonisation by 2050. As every sector steps up to meet these requirements, landowners and operators have a unique window to transition. Embracing low-carbon infrastructure creates an immediate opportunity to lower operational costs, unlock new revenue streams, and secure a powerful competitive advantage.

How we work

Story Marine takes care of the investment, construction and operation, removing risk and upfront costs. We'll assess your site, undertake non-intrusive surveys and identify the best grid-connected or off-grid solution.

For ports and operators, our long-term Power Purchase Agreements and Service Level Agreements help secure more predictable energy costs while improving energy resilience and supporting decarbonisation goals.

For landowners, we maximise the value of your land by developing renewable energy infrastructure that delivers clean electricity to ports and harbours. Through long-term partnerships, your land can generate sustainable income while supporting the transition to cleaner energy.

Powering up for a cleaner future: Story Marine Delivers Clean Shore Power on River Thames

On the 21st October, 2025, Story Marine successfully completed the installation of a cutting-edge 0.55 MegaWatt shorepower system, eliminating the need for diesel generators and reducing CO₂ emissions by over 280,000kg annually - the equivalent of avoiding the burning of 4,000 litres of diesel every week. For both Story Marine and Svitzer, this is a significant achievement in their green energy transition with the opening of the largest shorepower facility on the River Thames, located at Denton Wharf. The project also represents one of the largest, non-subsidised, shore power installations in the UK and demonstrates how the right investment can work.
